Kantor Berita ANTARA didirikan pada
tanggal 13 Desember 1937 oleh Adam Malik, Soemanang, A.M. Sipahoetar dan Pandoe
Kartawagoena, ketika semangat kemerdekaan nasional digerakkan oleh para pemuda
pejuang.
Keberhasilan ANTARA menyiarkan Proklamasi Kemerdekaan Republik Indonesia pada
tanggal 17 Agustus 1945 ke seluruh dunia adalah wujud kecintaan dan baktinya
yang besar bagi perjuangan bangsa Indonesia. Tahun 1962, ANTARA resmi menjadi
Lembaga Kantor Berita Nasional yang berada langsung di bawah Presiden Republik
Indonesia.
Selama lebih dari setengah abad, ANTARA sebagai salah satu kantor berita
terbesar di dunia bertekad untuk selalu menghadirkan berita dan foto mengenai
peristiwa-peristiwa penting dan mutakhir secara cepat dan lengkap ke seluruh
dunia.
